A new report by Jones Lang LaSalle has shown that property investors are targeting regional town centres including Leeds. The property consultancy firm has stated that although London and the South East will continue to dominate the market, other areas such as Leeds and Manchester are to see a rise in interest.
There has been an increase in the number of office space enquiries in Leeds. However, overall take up of offices has decreased by 57 per cent during the first quarter when compared to last years statistics. (more…)

Many British workers cannot log on to social networking sites like Facebook while in the office.
Half of UK office workers have been banned from using Facebook by their employers, according to a new survey.
The study of over 2,000 employees was carried out for computer services firm HCL Technologies. It showed that many bosses fear that allowing their staff to use social networking sites could tarnish their business reputation. (more…)

All over Europe offices have started to take part in Green Office Week.
Today marks the beginning of Green Office Week which will see companies all over the Europe take part in eco-friendly activities and solutions. Monday’s activities centre around encouraging businesses to reduce overall energy consumption. This will be achieved through the use of techniques like installing energy efficient lighting and ensuring that all workers switch off their PC’s when they’re not in use.
Other tips for today include using window blinds to reduce the temperature of the office on sunny days instead of using air conditioning. Alternatively in cold weather it is suggested that you turn down the thermostat by 1 degree as this could reduce your heating bill by an astounding 10% over the year.

Jones Lang LaSalle release first quarter statistics.
Property services firm report increase in profit during the first quarter.
Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has made an overall net profit of $1.5 million in the first quarter. The property services firm has also stated that there is a highly positive outlook for the rest of the company’s year. In last year’s first quarter the company saw a profit of just $0.2 million.
However, the company saw earnings before taxes, interest, amortisation and depreciation go down to $28 million. JLL claim this is because operating expenses rose up 20% to $676 million. Specifically the company stated that the increase was caused by “variable costs to support revenue growth and by certain unusual expense items”. (more…)
