British Land have acquired Grenfell Island – a Maidenhead office development – for £74 million.
The property group have exchanged contracts for the property which comprises of 198,000 sq ft of leisure and office space in Maidenhead city centre.
Property investment group British Land have this week announced they have purchased a prime office development in Maidenhead town centre for £74 million.
The company have confirmed they have acquired the Greenfell Island development which comprises of 198,000 sq ft of office and retail space. The building consists primarily of 113,000 sq ft of office space – all of which is currently let to Hutchison 3G UK Ltd as the UK headquarters of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. (more…)

Five new companies have leased space within Urban Splash’s Mersey House development in the heart of Liverpool. Amongst the new tenants are accommodation specialists Palatine, Poppies cleaning company, General Post and Handley Law solicitors. The building is a former factory and is now a list property with only 2 offices still unoccupied.
The building has attracted a diverse range of companies with many smaller companies using the property as a platform to start their business. Urban Splash‘s Paul Jones commented: “In the past couple of years, we have been dealing with lots of start-up businesses and ones relocating to the area who need small office space, want cost certainty and flexible terms but don’t want to compromise on quality – Mersey House fits the bill perfectly”. Plans for Cornwall business park revealed.
Plans for a Cornwall business park featuring super fast broadband and hi-tech offices have been revealed by Foster Hall Charitable Trust and a member of the economic forum Better Bodmin.
The project has been designed to take advantage of the super fast broadband connection that is scheduled to become active in Bodmin by 2012.
The Superfast Park complex would also include a hub for Cornwall Council, houses and flats for local employees as well as restaurants and a convenience store.
Gil Patrick, from Better Bodmin and Foster Hall Charitable Trust, said: “Bodmin is an early beneficiary of the
Superfast Cornwall project which will deliver superfast broadband to the county ahead of most of the rest of the UK and, indeed, most of the rest of the world”. (more…)
Colston Tower acquired in a joint venture.
Development Securities purchase office tower in Bristol.
Bristol’s Colston Tower has been acquired in a joint venture between Development Securities and Ellandi LLP. The property was bought for £7.6 million which reflects a net yield of 10.08%. The new agreement gives Development Securities 75% ownership and Ellandi LLP a 25% share.
Currently the building is let to a varied range of clients and has an occupancy rate of 85%. There is an overall number of 33 different firms and companies currently leasing office space in the Bristol commercial property. The joint venture arranged the deal to acquire the building from HSBC Pension Fund. (more…)
Vantage Point offices leased to consultancy company.
Commercial property agents Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has signed up recruitment consultancy company Sacco Mann for office space at the Vantage Point in Spinningfields. The Manchester office space has been leased on a long term 10 year lease.
Sacco Mann has taken up 1,500 square feet for an undisclosed price. However, office floor space within the building has been quoted at around £25 per square foot. Vantage Point is located within the centre of Manchester and contains 50,000 square feet of high quality office space. (more…)

Commercial property Bruntwood has refurbished office space in Liverpool following the departure of its previous tenants, the Home Office. The developers revamped 9,500 square feet of office space on the sixth floor at The Plaza. The building is located within the heart of Liverpool’s business district and is expected to attract new clients fairly quickly.
Bruntwood refurbished the offices into a serviced space. This means that the next tenant will move into a furnished space complete with furniture such as office desks and chairs. Wilton Developments has acquired Spring House in Manchester. The 7 storey office building consists of 25,000 square feet of quality office space and is leased to AXA Insurance. The property is located at York Street which is in close proximity to Spring Gardens.

Gaming company takes up Dublin office space.
Zynga move over 100 employees into Irish office space.
Social games company Zynga has opened a new office in Dublin. The company is probably best know for creating the hugely popular Farmville, a game that has around 250 million users a month. Thanks to the integration of this title with Facebook the company has seen a rapid growth over the past four years, subsequently it is expanding its presence in the UK.
Over one-hundred staff members have been hired to work in the Dublin offices. The company has also stated that it has future plans for company expansion. The new offices will focus on online community management, business functions, content management and customer care services. (more…)
