Sellar Property, on behalf of LBQ Ltd, unveiled brand new offices in London earlier this week. The company has taken up 600,000 square feet of office space across from London Bridge Station in a new deal. The offices are a part of the new London Bridge Quarter development that has cost around £2 billion to complete.
The commercial property will be know as The Place and it will span 17-storeys. At the moment it stands as London’s largest speculative office space and is due to be completed in 2013. What’s more, 430,000 square feet of the property will be classed as highly efficient office space. (more…)

New plans for office space in Manchester City Centre given the go ahead.
It has been announced that plans to create brand new office space in the heart of Manchester city centre have been given the go ahead. The plans, drawn up by AXA real estate, will see the demolition of the Peterloo House office block and the construction of larger more modern offices in its place.
The Manchester commercial property will be designed by architects Squire & Partners and will offer 108,000 square feet of high quality office space. This is a considerable amount more than the amount currently provided by Peterloo House which spans seven storeys, the new office space will span 12. (more…)
Shortage of office space in Manchester could result in rent price increase.
Manchester office space take-up is currently experiencing a two year high. Property specialists Colliers have stated that the city needs more commercial real estate to meet the levels of demand coming in from companies. This announcement come straight after reports that many Manchester office developments were on the horizon or awaiting planning permission.
However, whilst this is good news in the long term, the short term prospects for businesses looking relocate to Manchester aren’t good. The pairing of high demand and a lack of available spaces will allow landlords to higher lease prices and could cause a significant rise in the overall cost of office space. What’s more, new businesses will not be able to move to the area, potentially stalling the economy in certain sectors within Manchester.
Hastings office development receives go ahead.
Controversial office building splits community in Hastings.
New buildings are to be constructed in order to provide jobs for people in Hastings city centre. The commercial property has proven controversial amongst some locals however as they claim it will mean a loss of some of the city’s heritage. Opposing this are views that jobs for young unemployed people in Hastings are more important than Victorian buildings.
Regeneration company Sea Space have received the go ahead to begin the destruction of the current buildings standing at the site, some of which date back to the Victorian era. The plans will see all of the local buildings demolished and replaced with one office block. This will provide 64,500 square feet of quality office space in Hastings and would create the space for around 500 jobs. (more…)
Commercial development reaches completion in Liverpool’s St. Paul’s Square.
New office space has been launched in Liverpool’s St Paul’s Square as part of the final phase of the commercial development of the city. The commercial property has been designed and constructed as part of a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal and General Property and the Homes and Communities Agency under the name ‘English Cities Fund‘.
The scheme was recently completed and opened through a celebratory even that featured special guests such as Sir Michael Lyons (chairman of the ECF) and the Rt Hon Lord Heseltine, who officially opened the building. London and Leeds lead UK property market.
Study shows that Leeds and London are leading the way for the UK commercial property market.
New reports show that London and Leeds are leading the commercial property market in the UK. The study was carried out by Jones Lang Lang LaSalle to find the highest rent prices in the country and which would have stabilised the UK market through competitive prices and availability. Additionally, the firm carried out another study was conducted looking a 105 towns and cities across Britain.
From March 2010 to March 2011 well over a quarter of the markets studied showed an increase of average rental prices. The average figure found by Jones Lang LaSalle stands at an expected further growth of around 0.7 percent over the rest of this coming year. (more…)
Outsourcing company to generate around 600 jobs in the Piccadilly area.
Aegis has announced that it will occupy office space within Manchester. The company has been expanding its global footprint for some time now and the Manchester commercial property will be a part of the company’s growing European portfolio. Aegis has aimed to move into the UK and European market now as the outsourcing sector is experiencing high levels of growth and is expected to stay strong in the foreseeable future.
