Search firm acquires second office space property this year.
Google has acquired yet another office in the UK, the second in London within recent months. The search giant has leased a high quality seven storey office block right in the heart of the infamous Silicon Roundabout in London. The area is one of David Cameron’s favourite pet projects and aims to attract technology companies from around the world. There is a diverse range of tenants in the area but Google are undoubtedly the biggest (with Facebook in a close second).
TThe offices are located on Bonhill Street in East London and is the second commercial property the company has purchased in n the UK capital. Google also recently acquired Central London offices in order to set up their UK headquarters. The new offices will be used for more creative projects and will also be hosting a series of events to celebrate the opening. (more…)
Property specialists Hermes Property Unit Trust has bought brand new
Manchester
office space. The company has acquired the entire Citygate Court building on Mosley Street based in the heart of Manchester. The property was featured on the commercial market for £8.5 million and was sold on the behalf of Aegeon by Jones Lang LaSalle.
At the moment the entire commercial property is leased out to banking giants Barclays. The company has a branch operating out of the bottom floor and then five floors of high quality office space above. The company has a long term lease on the building and has occupied the space since 1989. The sale of the property represents an 8.5% yield for Aegeon.

office space within The Gateway. The office property is one of the most popular in the city and already houses some major tenants. Ingeus UK provide aid for the unemployed and aim to get them back into work. The firm has taken the relatively long term lease of 5 years on the office space and plans to move staff into the commercial property sometime within October.

Retail outlet Debenhams has announced that it will be taking up new
office space in Regent’s Place in the heart of London’s West End. The office space is located within a building owned by major property investment and development firm British Land. The site is a 13 acre estate and Debenhams will take up 145,ooo square feet of high quality office space.
Regent’s Place contains 1.5 million square feet of space that is used by a multitude of companies. The mixed use development features retail, residential, office and even leisure space. British Land have been developing the site for around 25 years and have worked in conjunction with reputable architect Sir Terry Farrell. The property is divided up into various sectors and British Land have got the space almost fully leased.

King Sturge and Jones Lang LaSalle merge and move into Birmingham offices.
Jones Lang LaSalle has left its former offices located at One Colmore Square in order to put into motion the final actions in merging with fellow property specialists King Sturge. The new deal will officially make Jones Lang LaSalle one of the biggest commercial real estate agents in Europe. The company has moved to 45 Church Street and the merging of the two professional teams is already under-way.
The merge is part of a £197 million deal that was agreed just earlier this year. The 45 Church Street offices were already occupied by the King Sturge team in Birmingham. Additionally Jan Thompson, the current head of Jones Lang LaSalle, will officially become the regional chairman of the merged companies. (more…)

Following almost a month of speculation Dickinson Dees has announced it will be leasing office space in No 1 Whitehall Riverside. The building is one of the most popular office buildings in Leeds and the company has taken a lease for 17,000 square feet of space. The firm have stated that ‘you can’t afford to ignore Leeds’ and claimed that they looked for some time for Grade A office space within the city.
Dickinson Dees has experienced high levels in company growth recently and claims that this is the main reason behind the move. The company saw its turnover reach an astounding £4.5 million and its workforce increase. 52 of the company’s professionals will be moving from the York offices to the new Leeds commercial property within 2011. Commercial real estate agents WHR Property Consultants has acquired over 5,000 square feet of
office space in Manchester’s King Street. The building is located at 82 King Street and is placed in the heart of the city’s centre. The company purchased the office space on behalf of reputable insurance brokers Caunce O’ Hara. The property is a Grade 1 listed building and was formerly used as a banking hall.
The company has taken out a long term 10 year lease for the price of around £25 per square foot. Caunce O’ Hara claim the reason for the move is the need for additional office space thanks to rapid company expansion. The firm currently occupies smaller office space at City Wharf in New Bailey Street.
