office space locations this year after it doubled its profits in 2011.
The firm announced it had made pre-tax profits of £45.5 million and operating profits of £50.6 million last year after experiencing growth in nearly every sector. The firm reported the results had been helped by a 12% rise in sales and an 8% rise in occupancy levels. (more…)

i2 Office’s newest centre at Meridien House, Watford has opened its doors this month, welcoming Najat Zounaki as GM, Sales for Watford and new clients from the Fencing Contractors Association and recruitment sector.

Tero Marine UK have moved into bigger offices in the north east of England.
The UK arm of an international firm has relocated to offices in the north east of England because its previous commercial site was too small for them.
Tero Marine UK have chosen to take on new office space in the Apex Business Village in Annitsford, Cramlington after they outgrew their previous offices in Blyth.
Their move into Northumberland office space will see them take on three jobs which are to be created as part of the move after surveyors Bradley Hall found the ideal premises for them.

Poor hygiene is a source of annoyance for employees.
Staff do not like colleagues who break wind at their desks.
Nose picking is the biggest office bugbear for UK workers, according to a recent poll.
Just under 30% of those who participated in the survey, compiled by DealJungle.com, said they find nose picking to be the most annoying office habit followed by nail biting. Smelly co-workers were found to be another source of irritation with 17% of respondents voting body odour as another irksome issue in the workplace.
One out of ten people admitted to being annoyed by colleagues who clear their throat at their desks and those who bring smelly food in for lunch. (more…)

Barton Willmore and Datalex have both agreed to take office space in the 10 storey office building in Spinningfields.
Allied London has announced it has secured its primary two tenants for its new Tower 12 office block in Manchester.
Planning consultancy Barton Willmore and travel software company Datalex have both signed up to lease office space in the newly completed office building at Avenue North, Spinningfields. Formerly known as Manchester House, Tower 12 consists of retail space and 40,000 sq ft of office space across ten floors. (more…)

Plans have been unveiled for Watershed in North Ferriby which will boast a host of eco-friendly credentials.
A forgotten reservoir in East Yorkshire is to be turned into an eco-friendly office space facility according to reports out this week.
Developer and chartered engineer Richard Bennett has unveiled plans to transform the reservior in North Ferriby into modern work space which will build on the site’s existing green credentials. He hopes to turn the reservoir, which is set below ground level, into one of the most innovative eco-buildings in the North of England. (more…)

The UK Key Cities Office Trends 2012 report also revealed a weak market resulted in a national fall in occupier demand and investment volumes last year.
The latest UK Key Cities Office Trends report from Drivers Jonas Deloitte has revealed that the majority of Birmingham office rents remained static throughout the course of 2011.
Although a large proportion of prime office rents in the city remained at around £27.50 per sq ft, some rents fell to £20-£25 per sq ft according to the report. Drivers Jonas Deloitte also revealed that total occupational take up in Birmingham hit just under 700,000 sq ft across 141 deals last year – a number remarkably close to the total for 2010. (more…)
Gensler has announced its intentions to open a new office in Birmingham.
The world’s largest architectural firm will create up to 50 jobs in the first step of its UK expansion plans.
The world’s largest architectural firm Gensler has announced it has chosen Birmingham as the location for its first UK office outside of London.
The firm are currently thought to be assessing options within the city centre and are expected to make a significant investment in the city within the next 12 months. The new Birmingham office, which could create up to 50 jobs, marks the first step of Gensler’s major UK expansion plans. (more…)
A unique office block has been created using 37 used storage containers in Sunderland.
Sustainable Enterprise Strategies will use the unusual space which was created by Clugston Construction.
Used storage containers and office space aren’t normally two phrases you hear in close proximity to each other, however a firm in Sunderland has decided that in the current economic climate they could actually be a match made in heaven.
Clugston Construction has created an office tower made out of 37 used storage containers to demonstrate that sustainable construction is achievable. The development cost £1.2 million to construct and consists of 10,000 sq ft of office space spread across three floors. (more…)

Dubbed i+, the tower will cost £14 million to construct and will consist of 160,000 sq ft spread across seven floors.
Developer Allied London has announced it is to build a brand new seven storey office tower in the heart of Manchester city centre.
The i+ site at Spinningfields will create 160,000 sq ft of space and has been designed to appeal exclusively to firms in the media and tech industries. According to the firm’s chief executive Mike Ingall the tower will be like “seven warehouses on top of each other” on Hardman Boulevard. (more…)
