Morgan Lovell, an office interior-design company, has become the first organisation to Britain to achieve BSI’s certification to new energy management system standard.

Their London office is the first to ever receive a BS EN 16001, thanks to the implementation of processes and systems to improve energy efficiency.

This includes energy meters, systems that will enter standby mode when not in use and more regular communication with staff about the benefits and importance of adopting environmental policies.

They have also taken steps to implement smart-lighting that is controlled with motion sensors, supported by dimming switches that will decrease the amount of artificial light in the room, and a cooling and heating system that recycles any wasted heat.

David Henderson, MD of Morgan Lovell said: “We are delighted to achieve a first in the industry with certification to BS EN 16001.

As well as cutting costs, improving our building’s energy performance has offered a range of tangible benefits, including preparing for the mandatory CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme – and supporting our corporate social responsibility policy.”

Since implementing these measures, Morgan Lovell has seen an energy decrease of up to 30% over 12 months.

Morgan Lovell is an office interior design, fit out, refurbishment and business relocation company based in London, Birmingham and the Thames Valley.
