Workers across the UK are putting in an extra 16 days each year according to new research.

Calculating the additional time worked by office based employees in the UK, these additional working days are accumulated by failing to take their lunch breaks in full and instead eating at their desks – where phone calls and emails interrupt them.

When you work in an office its important that you make the most of your lunch break. Being in an enclosed environment with false lighting and air conditioning all day can actually affect your health and it is important that you make the most of your time away from work during the day. With that in mind here are a few tips on making the most of your lunch break and making sure that you stay happy and healthy in the office.

Firstly take a trip outside. Whether you’re walking down to the nearest park or just heading out for a stroll around town it is essential that you get some fresh air and time away from thecomputer. It is also important for your mental wellbeing as being stuck in one space for at least 8 hours a day will take its toll. Going outside will also mean that you get some exercise and time away from your chair.
