Property development group Town Centre Securities has reportedly submitted plans to convert the historic Grade II listed Brownsfield Mill, located on Great Ancoats Street, into a new complex offering leisure, retail and office space.
The Enterprise Zone centered around Manchester Airport could help to create over 10,000 jobs in addition to delivering 1.2m sq. ft. of new office space according to the Manchester Airport Group (MAG).
Part of a £650m scheme that will be known as Airport City North and cover 110 acres close to Manchester Airport, the development will form what is described as the “core” of Manchester’s Enterprise Zone which first received confirmation from the UK government in early 2011.
In a study called ‘Tipping Point’, GVA has identified that regardless of new build schemes the demand could well outstrip the supply in 2013.
Having seen the amount of available office space decrease by 54% over the last two years, it is suggested that investors will need to reactivate mothballed developments or begin new projects to address the issue.
